MOULTON LOOKS TO UNSEAST KREITLOW

A former Republican state assemblyman who wants to unseat State Senator Pat Kreitlow (D-Chippewa Falls) made a campaign stop in Neillsville Wednesday.Terry Moulton is a sporting goods business owner from Chippewa Falls.
He made several stops throughout the district on Tuesday and Wednesday during his ?Reel in Spending Tour.?
"When I was thinking about whether I wanted to run for this seat, I was thinking about my grandkids," Moulton said. "I want them to be able to get a job here in this state. I'm very upset, as a small business owner, with the direction this state is heading."
Moulton conceded that Republicans have been partly to blame for the mess the state and country are in, and need to regain their conservative credibility.
But, he hopes to be part of a wave of conservatives that retake the statehouse in November.
"What you have seen from the Democrats is the tip of the iceberg. I'm confident if we get a Republican governor and we get control of the legislature, we'll be able to turn this thing around," he stated.
But, while cutting taxes is a politically easy thing to do, cutting services is not. Moulton says he?d look to cut from entitlement programs: chiefly, the state's Medicaid system.
"Medicaid makes up 30- to 35% of the state budget. We need to move people into private insurance through premium assistance...then they purchase their own private insurance. At least that gets them involved and they have to develop some personal responsibility," he argued.
Moulton says his goal to improve the economic climate would focus on four points: lower taxes, regulatory reform, tort reform and a more educated workforce.
