Wisconsin Cheese Production Fell for the Second Month in a Row in September

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Wisconsin cheese production fell for the second month in a row during September.
According to the USDA's latest dairy product summary, the state produced 276.4 million pounds of cheese during the month. That was 1.4 percent less than last year, but a slight 0.7 percent increase over this past August. Nationally, about 1.09 billion pounds of cheese was produced in the United States in August.
That was a 1.1 percent increase from 2019 and 0.6 percent more than the previous month. Dry Whey output in Wisconsin was recorded at 20.8 million pounds, which was down 14.5 percent from last year, and 7.8 percent lower compared to last month.
