TEA PARTY RALLY PLANNED FOR MERRILLAN

Thursday, September 16th, 2010 -- 12:26 PM

Those associated with the Tea Party are feeling pretty good about themselves lately.

They've had a lot of success in Republican primaries around the country, and they're hoping that leads to even more success in November.

"The Tea Party movement started spontaneously," explains Jim Zeiler, a Grass Roots Coordinator for Americans For Prosperity. "It has no leadership. It's what the people in the community are concerned about."

"Taxes, immigration, education. People get together and see what they can do to preserve the country as they know it," he says.

Zeiler expects 2,000 or more concerned citizens will attend the next Tea Party rally in Merrillan. It will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 25th at Gile Park. Two Tea Party heroes will attend. Dick Morris is a former Clinton White House staffer and political commentator, and Joe the Plumber gained national fame during the last presidential race.

"Dick Morris...gives a spellbind presentation. His knowledge of Washington politics is truly interesting and spellbinding," Zeiler says.

Zeiler says Tea Party members are upset with both the Republican and Democratic parties, but are feeling more optimistic about their personal political power with the success of their candidates around the country.
