BUSY PRIMARY ELECTION EXPECTED

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010 -- 9:58 AM

From Andrew Beckett, WRN

Turnout in today?s primary election could set a new record. Reid Magney with the Government Accountability Board says they're projecting about 28-percent of 'Wisconsin's' 4.3 million registered voters could cast ballots, about 1.2 million people in all.

Magney says the hotly contested Republican primary in the race for governor will likely bring many people to the polls, along with several open races in the statehouse and U.S. Representative Dave Obey?s (D-WI) open seat in the 7th Congressional District.

Since it is a primary, voters will get a ballot with candidates from both parties listed on it. Magney says it's important to remember to stick to one party throughout your entire ballot. Voting machines will catch the mistake if you vote for multiple parties and Magney says voters should get a chance to fill out a new ballot.

Polls close statewide at 8 PM.
