OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING IN RAPIDS JUSTIFIED

An investigation has determined a Wisconsin Rapids police officer was justified in shooting a knife-wielding subject on Sunday, August 15th.The officer, a 22-year veteran of the department, confronted a male subject and repeatedly told him to drop the knife. The male subject refused. Officers attempted to taser the man, but the man charged the officer first.
The officer fired two rounds from his gun striking the male and stopping his attack on the officer.
