The 2010 Clark County Fair is well underway. On Wednesday, over 40 dogs were judged during the 4H Dog Show.
"We're judging obedience. You have to do healing, long sits, figure-eights and recall," explains Marion Wehrman, 4H Dog Project leader. "Later on, they'll be doing showmanship: they'll be judged on the cleanliness of the dog and knowledge of the dog."
We found Marcus Genteman of Loyal getting ready to get into the ring with his dog, Bingo.
"He's a Golden Retriever. He's a good house pet. He's really old, so he likes to sit down a lot," he explained.
Shania Gorton of Loyal brought her dog Hawkeye.
"He's a Siberian Husky. He's only 5 1/2 months old and he won't do anything," she joked.
Blue ribbon or not, Wehrman says the kids learn a lot.
"They learn how to take care of an animal, how to related to an animal. It's a smaller animal and the parents don't have to worry about hauling it in and keeping it here. They just show today and they're done," she says.
