NEWPAGE HAS ANOTHER BAD QUARTER
Thursday, August 5th, 2010 -- 10:07 AM
A paper-maker with extensive operations in Central Wisconsin continues to struggle financially.Despite an increase in sales, NewPage Corp. lost $174 million in the second quarter, compared with a loss of $6 million the year before.
The company said the losses were attributable to an expiring alternative fuel mixture tax credit, lower average sale prices and higher interest expenses.
NewPage, with headquarters in Miamisburg, Ohio, is the largest coated paper manufacturer in North America. It has operations in Biron, Wisconsin Rapids, Stevens Point, and Whiting.
