NEILLSVILLE WATER, SEWER RATES SET TO RISE
Wednesday, July 28th, 2010 -- 1:56 PM
Neillsville city residents should brace for some steep utility rate increases. The City Council last night began a process that will likely see sewer rates increase 15% and water rates increase 19%.
The two utilities are supposed to break even with revenue from users, but they've fallen in the red. Both have a projected deficit of over $40,000 next year.
Before taking effect, the water rate increase must go to the Public Service Commission for review. The sewer rate increase needs to go to a public hearing. If all goes as planned, the rate increases could be implemented in the 4th quarter of this year.
