COUNTY BOARD TO TAKE UP COMP. PLANNING TONIGHT
Thursday, July 22nd, 2010 -- 11:12 AM
To plan or not to plan, that will be question before the Clark County Board of Supervisors tonight. The board is set to meet at 7:30 at the Clark County Courthouse.
They?ll be faced with a resolution from supervisor Steve Okonek, which, if approved, would direct the committee to develop a comprehensive plan.
Supervisor Okonek?s resolution notes state statutes require ?every government unit in the State of Wisconsin have a comprehensive plan done by 2012.? If they don?t, they won?t be able to enforce ordinances pertaining to sub divisions, shore land areas and floodplains. Okonek also says a comprehensive plan is ?the only way? to insure the county?s ag heritage is protected from urban sprawl.
This isn?t the first attempt at resurrecting the planning process. The county board voted down the comprehensive plan in 2006. Just last year, the board voted down a resolution similar to Okonek?s 12-15.
