PRICE TAG GROWS FOR TORNADO CLEAN-UP

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010 -- 11:11 AM

It?s been a week since a tornado ripped through southern Clark County, and the price tag for the clean-up continues to grow.

Clark County Emergency Management Director Michelle Hartness says the total is at nearly $100,000, but will grow considerably as the hardest hit towns report their damages.

So far, the county highway department says their clean-up efforts have cost $10,000, the Forestry and Parks Department reports $40,000 in costs, Clark Electric $36,000 and the Town of Levis $5,000.

Those numbers will grow as the towns of Dewhurst, Washburn and Sherwood as well as Jackson Electric file their reports.

Hartness says towns are still busy cleaning up. You may encounter road closures in the Hatfield and Sherwood areas, as crews remove logs and brush from the rights-of-way.
