An area city might consider banning pit bulls after a vicious attack left a girl seriously injured. The Marshfield NewsHerald reports last week's attack of a 5-year-old Spencer girl by a Rottweiler-Pit Bull mix led to plenty of phone calls to the city officials.
The city attorney is currently looking at options.
The dog that attacked the girl, her father and the dog?s caretaker was eventually shot by police.
In 2003, Neillsville became one of the first communities in the state to pass an ordinance banning pit bulls in the city limits. Pit bulls currently licensed to live in the city were grandfathered in.
At that time, there were 18 licensed pit bulls in the city limits; at last check, there are only five left.
