CATHOLIC OFFICIAL CRITICAL OF DIOCESE OF LA CROSSE POLICY
Friday, June 18th, 2010 -- 11:18 AM
New criticism is being levied against the Catholic Diocese of La Crosse standards to vet clergy sex abuse cases, and it comes from the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.Yesterday, an Archdiocese sex abuse review board member said La Crosse?s policy appears to violate church law and could return abusive priests to ministry.
Vice Chancellor James Connell said the policy requires a ?moral certitude? of pastoral guilt before a case would be forwarded for investigation. The Vatican only requires a ?semblence of truth? for further investigation.
The La Crosse diocese responded by saying the concerns were unfounded.
