REFERENDUM FOR CLARK COUNTY VOTERS?
Thursday, June 10th, 2010 -- 1:10 PM
Clark County voters might face an advisory referendum in the fall. The Executive Committee voted on Thursday to present a resolution to the board at their meeting on June 28th. If approved by the board, an advisory referendum would go to voters in fall asking if the state should amend its constitution to make sure the segregated transportation fund couldn't be raided to make ends meet elsewhere in the budget.
According to the resolution, the transportation fund is comprised mainly of gas tax and registration revenue. The governor recently used $1.2-billion from the segregated transportation fund to offset shortfalls elsewhere.
