MURDER SUSPECT TAKES OWN LIFE

A man accused of killing his girlfriend died of self-inflicted injuries on the day he was scheduled to go to trial.Greg Gubernot barricaded himself in his Eau Claire County jail cell Sunday to commit suicide. Jail personnel and emergency responders tried to save him, and he was rushed to a nearby hospital, but he died yesterday afternoon.
Gubernot was charged with first-degree intentional homicide for killing his girlfriend Theresa Still at the home they shared in Altoona in late December.
