KRAUS ACCUSEDS OF MISCONDUCT

Monday, June 7th, 2010 -- 9:13 AM

A federal and local investigation has turned up misconduct on the part of Tim Kraus during the year-and-a-half he served as the director of Marshfield's Community Development Authority.

"The...former director of the CDA has been implicated in illegal activities while serving as the director of that agency between May of 2008, and november of 2009," explained Marshfield police chief Gary Jepsen.

The one-time Marshfield alderman is now facing possible charges of felony theft, misconduct in public office, and forgery of public documents.

"We intend to recontact the Inspector General's Office out of Chicago to ask their assistance in supplying this case to t U.S. Attorney's Office for possible review, and potential prosecution at that level," Jepsen said.

If federal charges aren't brought, the case would be forwarded to the Wood County District Attorney.

Kraus resigned as the CDA director in November of last year, three months after being placed on paid administrative leave once the investigation came to light in September.

The Community Development Authority oversees Marshfield's two senior
apartment complexes, which fall under the federal department of Housing and Urban Development.
