The resignation of a department head has prompted Wood County officials to consider merging two departments.John Chrest has resigned from the director of Social Services position he held for 12 years.
Now the county board is mulling combining Social Services and Unified Services departments into a single Human Services Department. The departments have a combined budget of almost $21 million.
The county could save some administrative costs as a merged department would need only one director.
Chrest was slated to earn $93,000 this year.
