ANOTHER MOTORCYCLE FATALITY
Monday, May 24th, 2010 -- 11:39 AM
One man was killed and another was injured Sunday evening in a pair of motorcycle accidents that occurred near each other in Trempealeau County.Steven Meier, 55, of Trempealeau lost control of his new Harley-Davidson motorcycle about a mile east of Highway M in the town of Caledonia. He struck a utility pole, breaking the pole in half. Meier was ejected from the bike and pronounced dead at the scene.
24-year-old Max Keene of Trempealeau was riding with Meier and witnessed the first crash. In trying to stop, Keene crashed his own motorcycle, but was able to walk to a nearby home for help.
Speed is considered a possible contributor to the incident; neither cyclist wore a helmet during the time of each crash.
