LOCAL NURSE GETS BIG AWARD

A registered nurse from Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville has been honored for her contributions to rural health care.Karen King was presented with the Rural Wisconsin Cooperative Health Ambassador Award Tuesday at a surprise ceremony.
King is the OR Nursing Supervisor at Memorial Med, and has been employed there for 20 years.
The award is given to someone that demonstrates a history of fostering positive communication and relations within the hospital?s service area and beyond.
King was singled out for reaching over 1,200 individuals in 4 counties about the dangers of the methamphetamines, organizing surgery showcases and serving on a workgroup to help Memorial Medical Center better serve the Amish and Mennonite communities.
