YOYO 'EXPERT' COULD HAVE NEILLSVILLE TIES
Wednesday, May 12th, 2010 -- 11:54 AM
If you haven?t heard, a number of TV stations around the Midwest, including at least 4 here in Wisconsin, have been duped by a man claiming to be a World Champion yo-yoer. He goes by the name of K-Strass, or Kenny Strasser. It appears this fictitious hooligan has Neillsville ties. (See video here.)The morning show interviews?which are hilarious in a very awkward sort of way?were organized by a fictitious ?agent? who goes by the name of Joe Guehrke. WSAW-TV in Wausau was ?punked? by Strasser. They traced the supposed-agent?s phone number to Joe Pickett.
Pickett is a Neillsville graduate, who is a comedy filmmaker and operates a business called "The Found Footage Festival," which tours the country showing obscure, unusual and bizarre home videos, promotional clips, outtakes and training films to comedic effect.
Now, a bit of an update on this apparent prank. The story has garnered plenty of national attention in the past day or two. In fact, it was one of the top-ranked stories on Yahoo News today.
