NO CANDIDATES YET IN 69TH DISTRICT

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010 -- 11:41 AM

The 69th Assembly District still has no announced candidates for this fall?s election.

Abbotsford Republican, Scott Suder, has held the seat since 1998. He?s never really been challenged in an election. In 2008, he garnered 60% of the vote on his way to a landslide victory over Democratic challenger Tim Swiggum, the mayor of the City Owen.

While many candidates have already filed with the Elections Board, no one from the 69th has. There?s still plenty of time: nomination papers can?t officially be circulated until June 1st, and they don?t have to be filed until July 13th.

Meanwhile, it?s presumed area voters will have a choice in a few state senate races. If incumbent Pat Kreitlow (D-Chippewa Falls) seeks reelection, he?ll be opposed by Republican Terry Moulton; Tomah mayor Ed Thompson is running as a Republican for the State Senate seat currently held by Democrat Kathleen Vinehout of Alma.
