TWO PRIORS NOT GOOD FOR LOCAL ATTORNEY
Monday, April 26th, 2010 -- 11:28 AM
What?s in a name? A lot, according to a local attorney.Mark Prior is a local man, who?s been known to write some pretty inflammatory letters to the editor in local papers. He?s also circulating a petition in the hopes of recalling Clark County Circuit Court Judge Jon Counsell.
Matthew Prior is a Neillsville resident, and an attorney who practices in front of Judge Counsell.
"Mark Prior wrote a letter to the editor to the Clark County Press bashing the judge, the City of Loyal and county in general," Matthew Prior explains. "My office received numerous phone calls from people around the county, asking why I would write such a letter."
"I do not agree with his issues that he has with Judge Counsell, or other elected officials," he notes.
Matthew Prior says, every time Mark Prior gets a letter published, his phone rings off the hook. And, it hasn?t been good for business?think about it: who wants a lawyer who?s got it in for the judge?
"I haven't had a call for new business for the whole month of April, after his letter to the editor came out March 31. I haven't had any new business, at all," he laments.
Matthew says he?s only met Mark once, about seven years ago.
He?s just hoping people realize it?s Mark Prior, not Matthew Prior writing these letters, and that he doesn?t share the same opinions.
