CLARK CO. SENDS TRAIL GRANTS TO DNR
Monday, April 19th, 2010 -- 10:14 AM
The Clark County Forestry and Parks Committee hopes to secure over $500,000 in grants for trail projects and maintenance. The requests were approved at a meeting on Thursday.
If approved by the state, most of the projects would be completely funded through ATV and snowmobile registration dollars.
In other action, the committee voted to close down an ATV route south of Rock Dam. The 3.5-mile stretch, known as Hoagie?s Route, runs through a wetland. Despite the dry spring, the route is considered impassable. The committee is requesting $137,000 in grant money to rehab that segment.
As we reported Thursday, the committee elected not to allow UTVs on the trails when the season opens May 1st, but will reconsider the issue during their August meeting.
