MURPHY TO HAND OVER THE GAVEL

Barring a future run for the office, Neillsville Mayor Diane Murphy is set to preside over her last City Council Tuesday night.Murphy has served 14 years in the office. She was first elected to the post in 1994. She lost a reelection bid in 2000, but was reelected to the post in 2002.
Murphy lost a close election last Tuesday to Dewey Poeschel. Poeschel will be officially sworn in on April 20th.
According to City Clerk Rex Roehl, Murphy will join Bob Lulloff as the longest serving mayors in Neillsville?s history. Lulloff served 14 years from 1980 to 1994.
