IF PORK'S NOT THE OTHER WHITE MEAT, WHAT IS?

For over 20 years, America?s pork industry has referred to their product as ?the other white meat.? But that could be changing. The National Pork Board is considering a new ad campaign as part of a push to improve the industry?s image.
The ?other white meat? campaign kicked off in 1987. Now the Board has hired an advertising agency to test potential new brand positions.
Part of the perceived problem is consumers say they don?t think of pork as versatile or convenient. Much of that stems from health concerns, which led people to have to cook port until it was white. Now the industry says increased safety standards have made it safe, in most cases, to cook pork to medium temperatures.
