SPRING ELECTION ONE WEEK AWAY

The Spring Election is just one week away, and there will be no shortage of local races.Here?s a look at some of the things that will be on the ballot next Tuesday.
In the City of Neillsville, Dewey Poeschel will challenge Diane Murphy for Mayor.
4th Ward alderman Dale Berger is running unopposed; no one applied to seek the 3rd ward seat, currently held by Dan Herbrand, who is not seeking reelection. The top write-in vote getter will get the seat.
Four are vying for two Neillsville school board seats. Incumbent Paul Elmhorst is not seeking reelection to his post. Jeff Gaier, Jonathon Harris, Sue Voigt and incumbent Peggy Grap are running. The top two vote-getters will serve a two-year term.
14 of the 29 county supervisor seats will be contested. Among those races, Board Chairman Wayne Hendrickson of Unity will be challenged by Richard Rinehart; Finance Committee Chairman Charles Harwick will be challenged by former board member Helen Bohac; Neillsville supervisors Doris Bakker and Brian Kunze will be challenged by Mark Jurgaitis and Jeff McNeely, respectively.
Voters in the Greenwood School District will be asked to allow the board to exceed the state-imposed revenue cap by $500,000 through the 2015-2016 school year.
There are also several other school board and municipal races on the local ballot.
Polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. next Tuesday.
