Marshfield's Police Chief Being Urged to Fully Cooperate With Investigation
Thursday, November 5th, 2020 -- 9:03 AM
(WDLB) -Marshfield's Police Chief is being urged to fully cooperate with an investigation which has kept him off the job since mid-August.
The Fire-and-Police Commission last night voted unanimously authorizing its President Randy Gershman to work with city attorney Harold Wolfgram to issue a directive to Police Chief Rick Gramza to cooperate with a city of Marshfield investigation, and "to truthfully and completely answer any questions posed to him during these administrative investigations by the city administration or city legal counsel". Wolfgram told the Commission Gramza has so far cooperated fully with the investigation to this point. Although he voted in favor of the motion, Commissioner Mike Meyers expressed his frustration over a lack of answers regarding an investigation that's now nearing the three-month mark.
Wolfgram cautioned the Commission to tread lightly. As recently as last week, Mayor Bob McManus again expressed his frustration over a lack of information regarding the investigation. Gramza remains on a voluntary leave of absence, minus his service weapon, badge, police radio, cell phone and keys, along with any access to city email accounts and computer files. The investigation is being conducted by outside legal counsel hired by the
City – not by City staff or the City Attorney.
