SUDER: SPLIT THE DNR
Monday, March 1st, 2010 -- 12:09 PM
An area state lawmaker is joining the call for the Department of Natural Resources to be split.Representative Scott Suder (R-Abbotsford) signed on as a co-sponsor of a bill that would separate environmental policy from the department and create the Department of Environmental Quality. Suder says he?s been contacted by sportsmen and women who feel that the DNR doesn?t listen to their concerns.
A measure to change the appointment authority of the Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources, from the Governor to the Natural Resources Board, failed after the Governor vetoed the measure late last year and the Assembly failed to overturn that veto this week.
