Neillsville?s Winter Carnival is just a few days away. There are some new events planned for this weekend, including the first ever Hawaiian Dance-A-Thon. It will be held on Saturday from 2:30 until 4:30 in the High School Auditorium.
"We wanted to do something to help out Haiti," says school nurse Sheila Slenczka, who is organizing the event. "That was the main priority. The kids really wanted to get involved, and we wanted to have some more events for kids during Winter Carnival."
The dance is open to boys and girls of all ages. They can get pledge sheets at the middle school office, or the Chamber of Commerce office. All the pledges will go to the American Red Cross? Haitian relief efforts, while sales at the ?Blue Hawaiian Caf?? concession stand will go to the Power of Positive Students Club.
"We're going to have Hawaiian decorations, we're encouraging the kids to dress up Hawaiian if they want to, and we're going to have leis there, also," she says.
