FREE LEGAL CLINICS BIG SUCCESS
Wednesday, February 10th, 2010 -- 2:13 PM
A local program is in its fourth year of offering free consultations with attorneys. The Clark County Bar Association hosts free legal clinics the 2nd Wednesday of every month at locations from Greenwood to Neillsville and Withee to Colby.
"There's generally two attorneys that show up," explains Bonnie Wacsmuth, one of the organizers, "and from 6:30 to 8 p.m. we meet individually with people that have legal questions or issues they want answers."
Typically, between 6 to 15 people show up, with questions that run the gamut.
"Most of the attorneys in Clark County tend to be general practitioners, we can answer a lot of their questions. I'd say most of them have to do with small claims, family, divorce, or estate planning," Wacsmuth explains.
The attorneys bring some forms along, and some participants are able to handle their legal matters on their own?with a little direction.
"It's helping them get through the system efficiently and more accurately, so they don't have bigger problems down the road," she says.
(So, maybe lawyers aren?t all bad?)
