A Marshfield man charged with child neglect was sentenced in Wood County Court on Wednesday.
According to court records, earlier this year, Jacqueline Patrie and Wade Klante were living with their son and Patrie’s boyfriend in Marshfield. School staff became concerned as the boy, who’s in a wheelchair, would come to school with his clothes and diaper soaked in urine and dried feces on his leg.
The boy also had some open wounds on his hip and the dressings were frequently dirty. The wound eventually became infected and the boy acquired a bacterium.
During his court appearance on Wednesday, Klante was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, neglecting a child. He was sentenced to 3 years of probation.
At the end of November, Patrie was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, two counts of neglecting a child. Patrie was sentenced to 2 years of probation. She was also given an imposed and stayed jail sentence of 30 days. She’ll only serve that time if she fails at any conditions of her probation.
