LOYAL SCHOOL DISTRICT WILL DISCUSS FUTURE
Friday, January 15th, 2010 -- 12:18 PM
The Loyal School Board will hold a special meeting in early February to plot a long-range plan.Superintendent Graeme Williams says the board will hold the meeting February 3rd.
The district is faced with a $300,000 to $400,000 deficit for the coming school year. Williams believes the district's long-range plans will likely include another attempt at a revenue cap exemption, which could go to voters by as early as this fall.
The district currently has a fund balance of around $675,000. If no referendum is passed, the district will be forced to cut programs or use a good chunk of that money to stay solvent.
Last April, voters shot down a three-year, $500,000 per year referendum on a vote of 413 to 549.
