MEMORIAL MEDICAL CENTER BOARD LOOKS AHEAD
Monday, November 9th, 2009 -- 11:26 AM
For the first time in quite awhile, the Memorial Medical Center Board of Directors will have some new faces.Last week, Neillsville?s health care provider announced Dallas Wuethrich and Roger Hendricks were stepping aside, and they?ll be replaced by Trevor Wuethrich and Kevin Grap.
Memorial Medical Center is not owned by the community, but is a non-profit organization, which operates under the guidance of 11 board members.
CEO Scott Polenz says the board doesn?t meddle with day-to-day operations of the facility.
"Our board is really good about not getting involved in the day-to-day operations," he says. "We just went through the five-year strategic planning process. They would approve that or make changes, if they wanted."
Polenz says the board has representation from the four communities Memorial Med serves: Neillsville, Granton, Greenwood and Loyal.
The new members are coming aboard during one of the most interesting times in the health care industry. Nursing homes are struggling because of Medicare reimbursements that don?t cover costs and Congress is considering landmark reforms.
"I think it would be an exciting time for them, but also overwhelming," he says. "It's going to be an interesting few years."
The group meets monthly. Because they are not a government entity, the meetings are not open to the public.
