A Cadott woman was sentenced for using an app to send threatening messages to herself and claiming they were from her ex-boyfriend.
According to court records, Brittany Frane stated she and her family were receiving threatening messages from her ex-boyfriend. The threat also involved the Stanley-Boyd School District, which had to be put on a soft hold.
However, an investigation determined Frane was using an app to make it look like the messages were being sent to her from her ex-boyfriend, but she was sending the messages herself.
Frane was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, two counts of telephone harassment and obstructing an officer. Another charge was dismissed and read in. Two other charges will be dismissed if she successfully completes all the conditions of her probation.
