MEIER IN COURT NEXT WEEK FOR BAIL JUMPING

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009 -- 9:10 AM

It doesn?t appear the man accused of felony-murder for his role in a Neillsville bar room fight will get out of jail anytime soon.

Tyler Meier is now charged with violating conditions of his cash bond after he was arrested driving drunk in Rhinelander last month.

Meier quickly settled the matter by pleading to 3rd offense OWI. He received 90 days in jail, a fine and license revocation.

Clark County has now issued an arrest warrant for Meier, who?ll likely be transported directly to the Clark County Jail upon his release from Oneida County Jail.

Here in Clark County, prosecutors allege Meier punched 43-year-old Keith Young at the Brickyard Bar and Restaurant on February 1st. Young fell, apparently hitting his head. He was hospitalized in critical condition from shortly after the assault, to the time of his death on February 3.

Meier was released from jail after his family posted a $20,000 cash bond; the bond was later reduced to $10,000.

Meier will appear next Tuesday on the bail jumping charges. District Attorney Darwin Zwieg will seek a significant increase in the bail amount. A judge will also determine if Meier?s family will forfeit the $10,000 bond.

Meier will next appear on the Felony-Murder charge on December 1.
