ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORP. TO SHUT DOWN
Monday, October 5th, 2009 -- 8:20 AM
It appears the Clark County Economic Development Corporation will be closed for the rest of the year.As supervisors got a glimpse of the 2010 budget Thursday, they were also asked to amend the current year?s budget to spend an additional $40,000 on the CCEDC.
The organization receives money from the county and municipal governments. They sought an additional $40,000. They said they were down to only $500 for the remainder of the year, and would have to shut their doors if the amendment didn?t pass.
The board first amended the resolution to $20,000, but the measure still failed on a vote of 18-7 with four supervisors absent. The measure needed 20 votes to pass.
