LOCAL GROUP COLLECTING 'COATS FOR KIDS'
Thursday, October 1st, 2009 -- 11:41 AM
A local group is working to make this a warmer winter for needy kids. The National Guard Family Readiness Group has launched a Coats for Kids project.
"The group is organized to help families of deployed or non-deployed soldiers and their families. It's more of a connection and outreach to families in the Guards," says Amanda Hensiak of the NGFRG.
Area residents are encouraged to bring in their used hats, gloves, snow pants and other winter clothing to banks and churches in Neillsville and Loyal.
"On October 31, we're going to hand those out to any families that show up. We're going to have events for the kids, there will be wagon rides, face painting," she says.
That event will be at the Neillsville Armory on W. 18th Street.
There will be a separate giveaway in Loyal on Saturday, November 7th from 10 to 2 at the Loyal High School.
