The Clark County Health Department is ready to deliver flu vaccines.Sue Backus, a Public Health Nurse, says the county has secured 350 adult vaccines and 120 mists for children.
She says flu season usually runs from October through the winter. Some populations are more vulnerable to seasonal flu than others.
"People over 50, women in their 2nd or 3rd trimester of pregnancy, adolescents, people that have lung problems, diseases, they should get that seasonal vaccine," she says.
The H1N1 vaccine isn't available yet, but it should be available by mid-October. The county has already ordered a shipment of that vaccine.
So far, so good at area schools. Backus says they haven?t seen any flu problems yet. There has been some strep throat going around, but that?s about it.
The Health Department has scheduled flu clinics around the county, including in room 105 of the Courthouse every Monday from 1 to 4 p.m. through October. If you have questions, call them at 743-5105.
