MMC'S ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY TO OPEN BY YEARS END
Friday, July 31st, 2009 -- 5:56 AM
It's taking a bit longer than expected, but Memorial Medical Center says their new assisted living facility should be open by the end of the year. MMC administrator Scott Polenz says the effort has been underway for well over a year. They've cleared some bureaucratic hurdles, and work on the lower floor of the Health and Rehab facility is underway. To make room for the new venture, MMC closed the lower floor of the nursing home by reducing the number of beds from 99 to 70. While some had concerns, Polenz says they haven't had to turn people away. They new facility will have 12 beds. They already have a waiting list of 12 people. Polenz says they won't have the facility open by the original goal date of September 1st, but hope to have residents move in by the end of the year. MMC will hold a community meeting on their future goals for senior care services on Wednesday, August 26th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.Feel free to contact us with questions and/or comments.
