'GREASE' GEARS UP
Tuesday, July 28th, 2009 -- 2:36 PM
The Neillsville Area Players are hard at work on their summer musical production: Grease. It?s being directed by the brother-sister duo of Marta and Aaron Knodle.
Marta graduated from Neillsville last year; Aaron graduated in 2007. Both are going to college and have music-related majors.
"I didn't have much to do this summer, so I wanted to help out with the production," Marta explains, "and Aaron was like, 'You know what? You should direct something, and if you direct something, I'll do all the music for you.'"
"This is a typical old duo," Aaron says, "Marta always sings and performs and I always play, so we thought we'd just take it to the next level."
Life off the stage is different than life on the stage. "It's been going great. It's a lot of hard work. I never thought I'd have to deal with everyone else's problems, but I love it," says Marta.
"What gets me is all the administrative work," laments Aaron, "nobody ever tells you about all that side stuff."
As you'd imagine, the cast is comprised mostly of younger talent.
"I would go out on a limb and say it's almost more fun to work with the kids, because they're not set in their ways so much that you can still mold what you want out of them," says Aaron.
You can catch Grease next Friday and Saturday (August 7, 8) at 7 p.m. and Sunday (August 9) at 2 p.m. And then Saturday, August 15th at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Augsust 16th at 2 p.m.
All shows are in the High School Auditorium.
