LOCAL VILLAGE: SHOW US THE MONEY

A northern Clark County Dam needs repair, but the Federal Government doesn?t want to pay.According to a report in the Abbotsford Tribune-Phonograph, officials have told the village of Dorchester it needs to replace a 41-year-old dam that holds back a 7-acre pond, but they aren?t offering any funding for the project.
The pond will be drained this September to prevent the dam from enduring another winter freeze.
The project is estimated to cost around $368,000.
Rep. Dave Obey claimed he earmarked $300,000 for the project, but FEMA now says the project doesn?t qualify.
The village now must choose between footing the bill, or removing the dam, which would destroy the lake.
