WiFi CATCHES ON AT LIBRARIES
Tuesday, July 14th, 2009 -- 1:51 PM
Libraries aren?t just for books anymore. The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction says they want all public libraries to have wireless internet access (WiFi) by the end of the year. The goal shouldn?t be difficult to reach: 345 libraries, serving 97% of the population already have WiFi.
Most libraries have offered internet access at workstations for years.
WiFi allows people to bring their own laptop to the library and log-on.
In our area, libraries in Neillsville, Loyal, Greenwood, Thorp and Owen-Withee have WiFi access. The Samson Memorial Library in Granton currently does not have WiFi capability, but probably will by the end of the year.
