WOLVES BACK ON THE LIST
Monday, June 29th, 2009 -- 11:40 AM
A deal struck between the U.S. government and animal protection groups means the wolf will be back on the Endangered Species list.More than 4,000 gray wolves roams the woods in the Great Lakes Region, including Wisconsin.
The animal was dropped from the list in May, but the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service restored the protections Monday, after admitting they dropped the wolves from the list without providing for public notice and comment.
If the agency tries again to remove the wolves, the settlement calls for a comment period of at least 60 days.
