INSURANCE REQUIREMENT FOR DRIVERS
Friday, June 26th, 2009 -- 11:13 AM
The state budget moving toward the Governor's Desk has a provision requiring motorists to carry liability insurance for their vehicles.Wisconsin and New Hampshire are the only states without such a provision and lawmakers have tried for over 30 years to make it law.
Now, it's in the budget and Gov. Doyle has expressed support.
The Wisconsin requirement would take effect in a year.
Anyone pulled over who doesn't have an insurance card would be subject to a $10 fine.
