COMPLAINT: BENDER TRIED TO MEET WITH YOUNG GIRL

A Neillsville man facing child porn charges was arrested last week, five years after search warrants were executed on his home.As we?ve reported, William Bender, 66, 708 W. 4th Street, was charged Monday after an investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation turned up images on his computer of prepubescent boys and girls engaging in graphic sexual acts.
The criminal complaint indicates Bender was a truck driver.
In addition to allegedly downloading images, records indicate Bender told authorities he chatted with a 13 yr. old Florida girl and arranged to meet with her, although he claims that meeting didn?t occur.
Searches of his hard drive also turned up evidence he may have made similar attempts to meet with an 11 yr. old girl and 8 yr. old boy, the criminal complaint said.
He?s free on a $10,000 signature bond, with the stipulation he have no access to the internet and no contact with minors.
Bender will be in court June 23 for a preliminary hearing.
