LOCAL SCHOOLS COULD RECEIVE MICROSOFT MONEY

Area schools are among 850 in line for up to $80 million in technology reimbursements from Microsoft Corp.The reimbursements come from a 2006 settlement the state reached with the software giant over antitrust allegations.
The government complained consumers paid artificially inflated prices because of Microsoft's anticompetitive conduct.
The state Department of Public Instruction says schools with 33% of students from low-income households can apply.
Granton could receive $76,000, Greenwood $121,000, Loyal $97,000 and Neillsville over $302,000.
