LOTTERY WINNER TO CONTINUE TO WORK

Friday, June 5th, 2009 -- 2:57 PM

From the Wisconsin Radio Network:

A Marshfield lottery winner came forward to claim his jackpot Thursday.

Rafael Ruiz Junior, 28, won the jackpot in last weekend's Powerball game. He matched all five regular numbers to win 200-thousand dollars, and chose the power play multiplier, to turn the jackpot into one-million dollars.

Ruiz and his wife are the parents of six children between the ages of 18 months and 11 years old, and he says the money will go a long way.

"This is going to provide for us. This is going to be a big stepping stone. I'm going to keep working, because I know this isn't going to last forever. I know there are a lot of people out there struggling. I only wish I would have won a little more so I could help out a little more," Ruiz said.

After taxes, Ruiz will take home a little more than 680-thousand dollars. And he'll keep his job as a supervisor for Abbyland Foods in Abbotsford.
