Tuesday, May 12th, 2009 -- 2:00 PM
Groups working to restore Mead Lake plan to put some grant money to good use.The Stakeholder Leadership Team for the Mead Lake and Watershed Partnership recently learned they will get $10,000 for Lake Planning and a $150,000 for Targeted Runoff Management.
The money comes through the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and was applied for through the Clark County Land Conservation Department.
The Partnership will use the Lake Planning Grant to begin the process of writing a lake management plan for Mead Lake. The TRM grant will be used to partially fund a $650,000 voluntary non-point pollution control project on the Taylor-Clark County line.
Mead Lake has suffered from phosphorous run-off, which has caused significant algae blooms.
