(Chris Conley, WSAU) A Janesville man is facing charges in Marathon County under Wisconsin’s new sexual extortion law.
According to Chris Conley with WSAU, Seth Heine, 25, is accused of obtaining a nude video of a woman, and threatening to share it if she didn’t keep talking to him. It’s the first case in Marathon County to be prosecuted under Bradyn’s law, a local teenager who took his life after being sextorted.
A criminal complaint says Wausau PD investigated Heine earlier this month after a local woman filed a complaint. The woman said he’d threatened to distribute a video he had if she stopped talking to him. Heine initially claimed he was living in Illinois and would flee instead of face arrest.
He’s been charged with sexual extortion by threatening to distribute an intimate representation, threatening to share derogatory information, and bail jumping. He’s now free on $1,000 cash bond and is due back in court on November 10th.
