Humbird Man Charged After Domestic Dispute

Thursday, October 22nd, 2026 -- 12:01 PM

(WEAU Staff, WEAU) A man was charged after a domestic dispute with two other people on Oct. 18 in Humbird, according to WEAU staff.

According to a criminal complaint, 35-year-old Jeremy Justice was charged with attempted 1st degree intentional homicide, strangulation and suffocation, substantial battery, misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct.

On Oct. 18, just before 5:30 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the Village of Humbird in Clark County. The caller, victim 2, advised her son, Justice, was fighting Victim 1. Victim 2 said that Justice was on top of victim 1.

Another call came in and they said there were three people involved. The caller also said that at least one person was bloody and there were kids from the neighborhood riding bikes while the fight was happening.

Just after 5:30 p.m., the deputy arrived and saw three people in the north ditch of Prospect Street holding each other. All three people, Justice and the two victims, had blood on their bodies. EMS was requested due to the injuries.

Justice was pulled aside after being detained and the deputy observed that he had slurred speech and the deputy could smell alcohol coming from him. Justice said the incident started because the victims took his children for the weekend and he didn’t know about it.

Shortly before the incident happened, the victims brought the children home. Justice stepped out of the house and started having a conversation with victim 2. Victim 1 then began running his mouth to Justice.

He punched victim 1 and they started fighting and both ended up in the ditch. Justice said he had about 8 shots worth of Vodka that day. While looking over at the victims, victim 2 explained what happened to the deputy.

Victim 2 said she and victim 1 had planned this weekend to take Justice’s children on a trip to Minnesota. Victim 2 said Justice and witness 1 knew about the trip and were texting victim 2 the whole weekend.

Victim 2 said her and victim 1 arrived at Justice’s address to drop the kids off at home. Victim 2 said while they were unbuckling the kids from their car seats, Justice stepped outside and began yelling at her.

Victim 2 said while Justice was yelling at her, he said he was going to kill her for taking his kids for the weekend. Victim 2 said at this time, victim 1 got involved in the conversation and tried to defend victim 2.

Victim 2 said while Justice was attacking victim 1, she called the Sheriff’s Office. Victim 2 said while she was speaking to dispatch, Justice told victim 1 multiple times I’m going to kill you.

Victim 2 said after contacting the Sheriff’s Office, she attempted to help victim 1 and get Justice off of him. Victim 2 said she attempted to grab Justice to remove him from victim 1.

Victim 2 said when she grabbed Justice , he pulled on her hair to pull her closer to him and Justice punched victim 2 with a closed fist. Before the deputy was able to speak with victim 1, Justice started yelling at both the victims.

He was then taken to the back of the patrol vehicle. A separate deputy went to the Black River Memorial Hospital where the victims were being treated. During contact with victim 2, she indicated she was fearful of Justice and gave multiple other instances in which there was a physical altercation with Justice.

Victim 2 also said he regularly has physical altercations with his girlfriend and broke her ribs and nose in the past. Victim 1 explained multiple different physical altercations he witnessed between victim 2 and Justice.

Victim 2 also said he feared for his life and safety from Jeremy and asked how to apply for a restraining order. Victim 1 also spoke about Justice’s children and advised he had noticed they had become withdrawn and quiet which concerned him, especially because he believed one of the children had witnessed the altercation.

Victim 2 also mentioned the house was unsanitary, with around seven cats and she didn’t feel the living conditions for the children were okay. An initial appearance for Justice is scheduled for Nov. 2.
