MEDIA STATEMENT REGARDING WEATHER SHIELD?S GREENWOOD FACILITYEmployees in our Greenwood, Wisconsin facility were informed today that production there will be moved to the organization?s facility in Mosinee, Wisconsin. The transition will take place in phases commencing in early July, with complete closure scheduled for the end of the third quarter of 2009. All affected employees will be offered positions in Mosinee.
The move is reflective of the company?s efforts to improve our manufacturing operations and prepare for increased demand as the housing economy begins to recover. The transition of vinyl production from the Greenwood facility with 110,000 square feet of manufacturing space to the Mosinee facility, which has 660,000 square feet of manufacturing space enables the company to expand its capacity to accommodate future growth. It also reduces our aggregate production and transportation costs, and allows us to capture efficiencies by incorporating our vinyl production in Wisconsin into one facility.
The recent federal ARRA tax credits and our company?s energy smart products, such as fiberglass-clad windows, position us well to capitalize on new market opportunities, which we are aggressively pursuing.
